How to improve keyword ranking in google

Tips and tricks on how to improve keyword ranking in google. Example of Seo techniques and how to build a wordpress website from scratch.

To begin with,
WHY KEYWORD RESEARCH IS IMPORTANT
Start with research. Always start your projects with research. If there’s one thing I can
impress upon you, that’s where the money’s made; research and testing and tracking.
Everything else in the middle is really mechanics.
But if you make sure that you’re in the right market, and you’re targeting the right keywords,
then once you’ve got the machine set up you test and track and refine, that is how you actually
will do really well.
The results that we get from our keyword research will be used later on when we optimise
our sites for search engines, specifically for Google. By knowing what keywords we are targeting and then optimizing our sites for those keywords, we are aiming to get on the first page of
Google for those particular keywords.
For each keyword we are thinking about targeting, we need to look at three factors, which are:
first the volume of searches that the keyword gets per month, second, whether the keyword
has commercial intent, and third, how difficult it would be to get onto the first page of a Google search results page for that keyword.

THE THREE CATEGORIES OF KEYWORDS AND WHAT WE WANT TO TARGET

We can think about keywords in three categories, head keywords, body keywords and
long tail keywords.
Head keywords are single words, such as car, shirt or tree. Because these are single words,
they don’t have any context. We wouldn’t have any idea of the intent of someone typing a
word like that into Google.
For example, is the person typing ‘car’ into Google looking to buy a car, get their car serviced,
or looking for pictures of cars? We really don’t know, so that kind of words is no help at all in
working out if that person is looking for our service or product with the intention to buy.
And because single words are so broad, it would be very difficult to rank for those words.
Body keywords are 2-3 word phrases. They have good amounts of traffic and are usually less
competitive than head keywords, however they can still take some work and time to rank for.
The last category is long tail keywords. These are phrases of four or more words. Since they
contain more words, they are much more targeted. And because they are so specific, they have less traffic, usually between 100 and 1,000 searches per month.
The next thing to consider is the intent of the searcher. For example, people using keywords
such as ‘download’, ‘free’ and ‘DIY’ are not likely to be looking to buy anything or pay for a service, so having lots of traffic made up of those types of searches is not likely to generate very much income for the site.
On the other hand, people who search for words (described in members area) will
have more intention to make a purchase.
Brand or product name keywords are also an indication that the person searching is looking
to make a purchase.
This difference in intention is really important for you to be clear on if you have a product
or service for sale.
With all of that in mind, it can be a good tactic to target a mixture of body keywords and
long tail keywords.
The long tail keywords are likely to help you get traction straight away and the benefit of
including body keywords is that over time you may start ranking for them, which is great
because they have higher search volume, but also as you rank for body keywords, you’ll also
start ranking for other long tail keywords that you didn’t especially target or expect to rank for.
The number of monthly searches you want to generate will depend on what you are trying to
achieve. For example, if you’re trying to sell 100 of your product per month, and you’re finding that you’re converting 10% of the people who visit your site into buyers, then you need to have 1,000 visitors to your site each month.
Alternatively, if you find that you’re only converting 1% of your visitors into buyers, then you
need to get 10,000 visitors per month to make those hundred sales.

Targeting a few keywords that each bring in a bit of traffic can soon add up.

Best Marketing Tools for Online For Local Business in 2019?

Combinding your service with a location and desciptive words to descibe your service with Seo.

LOCAL BUSINESS TRAFFIC

Now, another thing that I’ll just mention here, talking about searches, they exist
because someone searched on them. When you’re doing local business stuff, a lot of the
numbers I’ll give you don’t apply as strongly in a local business market, because if you can
get 10 searches a month and convert half of them into customers, because they’re exactly
what you do, then that can be a very lucrative business.
So don’t discount something, just because I say, minimum is 25 a month or 25 a day.
That’s not a gospel figure, if you’re using local business, you can get a much smaller number
and get fantastic results.

HOW TO GENERATE A LIST OF KEYWORDS

Initially we don’t know which words are going to work out, so to get started,
think about these three questions and write down what comes to mind:

• How would you describe the services or products you offer?

• Do you have a unique selling point and what is it?

• What do you imagine that people searching for your products would type into Google to find them?

You could also try putting your words into a thesaurus to get alternatives. Once we’ve got a list of keywords that we’ve thought of on our own, we can head over to the Google Keyword Planner.
Click into Tools and Keyword Planner.
Here we can click into Search for new keywords using a phrase, website or category. Now our
options here are to type in our keywords up here. We can also check particular pages. So if you
were to type in the URL for either a page that is on your site or a competitor’s page, you could
find keywords that you could target for that particular page.
We can begin by typing in one of our seed keywords, we can change our location and languages if we we’re wanting traffic to come from particular areas, such as geographic areas, we could change that in here. And we can also change our languages.
This page begins by showing us the monthly searches over time. If we roll down we can see that we’re in the tab AdGroup Ideas. So this is groups of keywords. We can have a look down this list and if any of these make sense to us we can click into them to see which particular keywords are in that group.
We can also head over to the keyword ideas to see the long list of keywords that relate to our
seed keyword.
So scrolling down here, if any of these make sense or interest you, you could add them to your
list of keywords.
Another way to generate more keywords is to use a free online tool, such as Ubersuggest.
Let’s take a look at that now.
Go to www.ubersuggest.org and type in your keyword.
I’ll start with the example of Organic Beauty. Click on Suggest.
What we’re seeing here is the keyword we put in with every letter of the alphabet tested in
Google, and then a resulting list of words.
This helps you to generate a long list of keywords quickly, and if any of these look good to you,
you can just grab them by clicking on the plus sign next to them, clicking on Get, copying then
and then pasting them into an excel or a plan text file.
Next up we can actually do a search in Google for our keywords and we can do one of two things here. We can either write our words in and check what Google suggests before pressing enter, so Organic Beauty. If any of these suggestions look good, we can take note of these.
Or we can press enter and check the bottom of the page for the related searches. This can be
golden. The search words here are likely to be closely related but also different enough to bring in some new ideas.
If any of the related searches look good, click into them, and repeat the process.
Another place we can check to get keyword ideas is Google Trends. Go to www.google.com/
trends. Type our word into Explore Topic, hit enter and we’ll get to see the trend for that
keyword over time.
This is helpful for both physical products and services and online products and services too.
You might notice some seasonality in here, and also whether a keyword is going up or down
in popularity.
After looking at the trend we can move down to the Related Queries.
Here we can see other words that are searched for alongside our keyword. Take note of any of
these that look good.
As you get more and more keywords, put them into categories. For example, later on we might
find organic beauty makeup and organic beauty shampoo and conditioner, so we might have

several sections that relate to organic beauty. This can help you later on with the construction of you sites’ layout. Here are some links to extra information
